The FAA made a few changes in the past year that we should all be aware of. FAA Administrator Michael Huerta introduced a new Compliance Philosophy that is founded on risk-based decision making.

IAM Legislative Conference a Success in Washington, DC
During our most recent trip on May 9th to the Legislative Conference held in Washington DC, myself and Greg Lance from the 1725 Legislative Committee had the opportunity to spend numerous hours on Capitol Hill lobbying on issues that directly affect our members.
We visited several members in the US House and Senate taking on issues like Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Glass Stegal Act Repeal, Assaults on Customer Service Agents and many other issues. The 2016 Shop Steward Class completed their two day training at the Local Lodge. The classes were taught by John Bidoglio and Rick Russo with assistance from Ian Anderman (DL 142 Treasurer) and Sean Ryan (DL 142 General Chair).
Graduating from the class were the following new shop stewards:

Registration is open for the 2016 annual Ground Safety Training Conference, June 1-3 in Hollywood, Md.
Last year’s conference was full with a wait list, so this year we have reserved all of the rooms at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center.
The conference is hosted by the Joint Air Transport Safety Committee and includes three full days of instruction, networking and information-sharing focused on the theme, “Skills for Life: Pathways to Health and Safety.”
