Neutral Javits Issues Initial Integrated Seniority Lists at American Airlines

The TWU-IAM Association today announced that Neutral Joshua Javits issued his Report and Recommendations and initial integrated seniority lists for the Mechanic and Related, Fleet Service and Stores work groups at American Airlines.

The Association Fleet Negotiating Committee met with the company during the week of December 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The company presented the following proposals to the union this week:

  • Vacations – No tentative agreement was reached as the remaining issues include the number of vacation weeks and accrual formula.
  • Hours of Work – No tentative agreement was reached as the remaining issues include the scheduling of part-timers and adverse weather conditions.

  • Reduction in Force
  • Recall
  • Voluntary Furlough

The Association Mechanic & Related/Stores Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of December 12th in LAS.  During this week’s session, the Committee exchanged and discussed the following articles:

Limited Duty- M&R, MLS, MTS and MCT – We have reached an agreement in principle on this Article which provides enhanced protections for our members.

Thank You for making the 50/50 Holiday Drawing a Success!

On behalf of the Women’s/Human Rights and Young Workers Committees we would like to thank each of you who participated in the 50/50 Holiday Drawing. We raised $2138 and drew winners for 4 $50 Visa gift cards and 1 50/50 winner. Carlos Traveria (Fleet Service) won the 50/50 prize totaling $1069, which Carlos graciously donated back to the “Season of Giving” fund. The winners of the $50 Visa cards were JW Davis Jr (Mechanic), Mark Kern (Stores), Martin Shoborg (Mango-Tool Room) and one $50 Visa donated back to the fund by Mike Millie.

The Association Fleet Negotiating Committee met with the company during the week of December 5th in Washington DC.

The committee exchanged proposals with the company this week on Vacations and Hours of Work. Although we didn’t reach a tentative agreement on these articles, we narrowed down the outstanding issues. The company committed to working on these proposals over the weekend and will present their counter proposals to your committee on Monday.

As I look back on this past year here at our lodge, I am amazed at all that we have accomplished towards our goal of making Victory Lodge 1725 the best local in the IAMAW.

This year saw many improvements to our facility. Upgrades were made to our office systems with the purchase of new hardware and software and with this we have standardized all the operating systems at the lodge and install the latest malware to protect those systems.
