There has been a lot of discussion lately about travel benefits available to furloughed employees and/or those who have been recalled then resigned or retired. Our conversations with M&E have yielded this update:
If an employee was furloughed from January 6, 2005 through June 1, 2006, due to outsourcing, they are entitled to lifetime travel, if they had 15 or more years of service at the time of furlough.
- Article 8, Page 53: “Employees who have been on furlough for more than five (5) years will not be eligible for travel under the Company’s sixty-five (65) Point
IAM members will be receiving approximately 1.5 million dollars as a result of the IAM’s successful arbitration against Alaska Airlines regarding HMO coverage. In its December 20, 2016 Order, the IAM-Alaska System Board of Adjustment, through Arbitrator John LaRocco, ordered Alaska to cease and desist from violating its contractual obligation to contribute the “same amount” to its HMO plans as it does for the same tier of coverage for PPO plans. NOTICE OF VICTORY LODGE TREASURER ELECTION
The election will be held on Thursday September 14th, 2017 at the local, located at 3727 Rose Lake Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217 from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.
In accordance with the IAM Constitution, any member entitled to receive an absentee ballot shall make a written request to the Recording Secretary of Local 1725 no later than 30 days before the election.
Only members in good standing may vote in this election.
The TWU-IAM Association today announced that Neutral Joshua Javits issued his final integrated seniority lists for the Mechanic and Related, Fleet Service and Stores work groups at American Airlines.
The final lists are the completion of an investigation Neutral Javits conducted regarding protests of the initial seniority lists, issued on December 27, 2016. The final integrated seniority lists show all seniority dates amended as a result of that protest process.
Neutral Javits considered over 1,600 protests from approximately 1,700 employees. Each protester will receive a letter from Neutral Javits explaining the determination of his or her protest.

The Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of June 12th, in Washington D.C. and continued negotiations on Classifications for M&R, and Promotions & Transfers, Recall, and Reduction in Force for Fleet Service among other contractual provisions. The Executive Committee was unable to reach full tentative agreements; however, progress was made in several areas, and language was agreed to in principle.

The Executive Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of June 5th, in Washington D.C. and continued discussions of several of the open issues and Articles.
The M&R Committee reviewed and passed to the Company M&R Classifications, the complexity of this Article presented us with several challenges. The Committee also prepared MLS Classifications to be passed to the Company.
The Fleet Service Committee continued to work on Transfers and Promotions, and had exchanges with the Company.
