Labor Day 2017: AA is seeing Red at the Charlotte Hangar

August 31, 2017 Admin 0

The CLT hangar is doing its part on Red Shirt Thursday. What a great way to show Solidarity to our Association Negotiating Committee during this crucial phase in the negotiations for our first Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement. A simple gesture such as wearing Red on Thursdays shows the company that WE are the union. The Union is ALL OF US and we stand together as one.

Happy Labor Day!!… Read More...

Association to American: “Comprehensive” Proposal is Garbage

August 25, 2017 Admin 0

Dear Association member,

In an internal communication to TWU-IAM Association members at American Airlines, Kerry Philipovitch and David Seymour—American executives who have not attended one negotiating session—claim the Association is dragging its feet in responding to American’s “comprehensive” proposal. FALSE! Association executive level negotiators told American negotiators that their comprehensive proposal belongs in the garbage. It is an insult to the membership and doesn’t deserve any further response.

Accurate information is important. The company’s “comprehensive” proposal does the following:

  • Outsources work and eliminates jobs
  • Maintains legacy American’s high cost health care
  • Includes insulting wage rates that are not industry-leading

Dear Friends,

Some of you may know that I have kidney disease. Over time, my kidney disease has gotten worse causing my kidneys not to work well enough to keep me alive. This is what I am facing now, and my treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant.

Many of my family members and friends have been tested and unfortunately, to date, none have been a match.
Getting regular dialysis treatments, usually three times a week for four hours at a time, will help my kidneys do their job

The Executive Negotiating Committee met face to face with American Airlines this week in Washington DC. Negotiations centered around the Fleet Service group and good progress was made working through outstanding language issues.

The Mechanic & Related/Stores Committee met internally for important discussions regarding the seniority article and they are pleased to report that significant and positive progress was made working through those complicated remaining issues. Our attention in the next scheduled negotiation will be on the Mechanic & Related/Stores open issues to sync us up to the progress made with Fleet language.

The entire negotiating … Read More...

ALASKA NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

August 20, 2017 Admin 0

August 14, 2017

On July 6, 2017, District 142 served notice to Alaska Airlines that we intended to begin negotiations for the RSSA and the COPS Agreements. On July 17, the company objected to negotiating the COPS agreement insisting to break our negotiations apart.

A week later, the company filed a grievance against the union and our membership for attempting to change the amendable date of the COPS agreement by beginning talks for both agreements at the same time. It is clear by the plain language of both collective bargaining agreements that the Union has the right to open both … Read More...

President’s Report – August, 2017

August 15, 2017 Mike Jones 0

President’s Report

Currently Victory Lodge 1725 members at both PSA and American Airlines (AA) have negotiating committees that are deep into the difficult process of securing new collective bargaining agreements on behalf of our members. After many frustrating and fruitless efforts to get PSA to bring a legitimate and acceptable offer to the table, the IAM petitioned the National Mediation Board (NMB) to step in and assist with bringing these negotiations to a successful conclusion. As a result, on August 3rd the NMB assigned a case number and mediator to these negotiations. At the American Airlines-TWU/IAM Association negotiations, on July … Read More...

IAM/PSA Airlines Negotiations Update – August 3rd, 2017

August 8, 2017 Admin 0

We recently received confirmation that our application for Mediation has been received, accepted and docketed as NMB Case Number A-13856.  The National Mediation Board has assigned Mediator Jack Kane to oversee the process for the remainder of these negotiations.  As soon as we hear from the Mediator, the next meeting dates will be set based on his discretion.  We will communicate those details concerning a schedule of meetings when they become available.

At the beginning of this process, your negotiating committee created and handed out a booklet called the “Negotiations Survival Handbook”.  That booklet contained a brief description of
