Political Training Class

I was invited by our Distict 142 President, DaveSupplee to attend The Political Training Class at W3, (William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center).  I was thrilled and pleased to attend and represent our local.

This class focuses on MNPL, elections, legislative issues, the political process, and the relation and importance of our involvement to politics and government.

Our class started off by assigning members to a group that would create a faux candidate and a campaign operation to get them elected. Every person in our group was assigned particular jobs that actually exist in campaigns. As … Read More...

Brothers and Sisters,

In an amateurish and unprofessional move, American Airlines management is trying to bribe Association members into giving away work, abandoning good healthcare and giving up better retirement security by doing an end run around your negotiating committee.

Making the biggest mistake possible, American negotiators continue to disrespect you and your leadership by attempting to negotiate in breakrooms and by email! These delay tactics prevent the real negotiations that are needed to get the contract you deserve.

“This Association negotiates face to face,” said Association Chair and Vice Chair Alex Garcia and Sito Pantoja respectively. “As we … Read More...

Happy AMT Day!

In 2001, the FAA created the created the prestigious Charles E. Taylor Master Mechanic Award to honor AMTs, who had served at least 50 years in aircraft maintenance.  The following year, California Senator Knight introduced a resolution honoring Aviation Maintenance Technicians annually in honor of Charles Taylor’s birthday.  Charles Taylor was the machinist who built the engine to turn the Wright Glider into the first powered aircraft.

Thursday, May 24th  is AMT Day – a day we honor the AMTs who ensure we have a safe aircraft for us to fly on, for our family and friends to travel on … Read More...

Brothers and Sisters,

American Airlines recently changed course by contacting the TWU-IAM Association leadership seeking dates to discuss minor issues that remain open in our negotiations. The Association views all discussions between us and the company as important to achieving our goal of a tentative agreement. For this reason, the TWU-IAM Association Negotiating Committees have agreed to send a small group of committee members to meet with American Airlines on June 11th  and 12th to discuss these outstanding issues.

Regretfully, however, we are still in dispute. American Airlines management continues to disrespect Association members by refusing to … Read More...

Work Safe.  Those two words are more important than ever right now for the American Airlines members of Victory Lodge 1725. Aviation is a very unforgiving industry when it comes to mistakes. With all the different distractions that we deal with at work, the state of our current contract negotiations for example, it is critical, that each and every one of us is as methodical, diligent, and focused as possible on safety.

Be sure to follow the ROM (Ramp Operations Manual), GPM (General Procedures Manual), etc. as well as all applicable aircraft maintenance manuals TO THE LETTER! No … Read More...
