On August 21-23, 2018 your negotiating committee met in Dallas at Southwest Airlines Headquarters to resume contract negotiations. American Reneges

Brothers and Sisters,

The Association Executive leadership met with American Airlines management this week to push through the tough Fleet Service Scope issues and proposals we have exchanged. Your committee was initially pleased when the Company’s Chief Negotiator offered to include protection for all of the fleet work currently performed at the 40 fleet service stations.

When the Association committee began to engage the offer, the Company negotiators abruptly reversed course, denied the offer they made and insisted that health care and wages be agreed to before they would agree to any further scope discussions.

Alaska Airlines Negotiations Update – 08/17/2018

Sisters and Brothers:

The joint Alaska Airlines Negotiating Committee continued negotiations with Alaska Airlines management August 14 -16, 2018, in Washington, D.C.  This session was dedicated to COPS contract issues.

Represented by the Company were: Greg Mays, Vice President/Labor; Wayne Newton, Vice President/AOCS; Jeff Butler, VP/Inflight & Call Centers; Bob Hartnett, Labor Director; Denise Kliskey, COPS Labor Manager; Melinda Maher, Division Controller;  and, Rebecca Meissner, Company Attorney.

Joining the Negotiating Committee were: James Carlson, Assistant Airline Coordinator; Kris Hannah, Grand Lodge Representative; and Brianna Gregory, Grand Lodge Representative.

In the past few weeks I have had meetings and phone conversations with members of the leadership teams from the Charlotte chapters of both the APA (Allied Pilots Association) and APFA (Association of Professional Flight Attendants). These meetings were very productive and illuminated many of the common issues our respective unions face in our dealings with American Airlines.

Several common themes emerged from these discussions. First, it is clear, that American Airlines does not single out any one group for disrespect or mistreatment. It treats all its labor groups with contempt.
