Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update – Oct 18th, 2018

On October 16-18, 2018 your negotiating committee met in Dallas, Texas Southwest Airlines Headquarters to continue negotiations.  The Company passed Article 6 (Hours of Service) and Article 7 (Overtime) in response to the Union’s pass at our last meeting September 18-20. We will resume talks next week, October 21-23, 2018. As talks are ongoing, we cannot share specifics. We appreciate your continued support.

We have all heard a tremendous amount recently about the elections that will be taking place in November. The stakes are high not only for the candidates but also for the voters and this country.

Mediator Schedules Dates, Association Demands More

Brothers and Sisters,

The two mediators assigned to our negotiations have notified the TWU-IAM Association and the Company that three bargaining dates have been scheduled: October 30, January 29-31 and February 12-14. While the Association welcomes the opportunity to negotiate during these dates, these three sessions are simply not enough.

We demand and challenge the Company to come out of hiding and schedule more dates in the interim.

Help Needed for IAM Members Affected by Hurricane Florence

Just days after Florence slammed into the North Carolina coast, the monstrous storm’s havoc continues to spread across much of the eastern United States. With a toll of more than 30 lives lost and floodwaters rising, it will take months to assess the brunt of its impact.

The competition is open to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada under procedures and rules of eligibility explained in this announcement. The IAM Scholarship Fund, which is used exclusively to make possible these awards, was established by the delegates of the 1960 IAM Grand Lodge Convention.
