The open letter copy reads in full as follows:

As a consumer who cares about the way a company treats its workers, I am shocked to learn that American Airlines offshores so many important jobs.

I’m equally frustrated that you’ve found another sneaky way to cut costs, which could cause a potential hazard to flyers like me.

I urge you to put safety at a premium and live up to your reputation. Stop offshoring jobs and work with your mechanics to put customer safety first.

Unions and Airlines United for Safety

To reduce the number of workplace accidents at our nation’s airports, union activists promised to form stronger partnerships with airline and industry leaders at the IAM141 Safety Conference, which began on Tuesday.

Bill Salo is the IAM141 Safety Director (United Airlines.) His work has led to safety policy changes at airports around the nation.

IAM and AA Sign New ASAP Memorandum of Understanding

Today, the IAM and American Airlines signed a new MOU on the LUS ASAP program.  This new MOU fixes many of the problems we have had with the original ASAP program – most importantly, disciplinary action taken by the company against members who submit an ASAP report.
