Sisters and Brothers,

The Association Mechanic & Related/Stores Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of July 11th in Dallas, Texas where we exchanged and discussed the following articles:

Field Trips/Travel Pay – MCT – After some contentious exchanges between the parties, we reached a tentative agreement on this article for the MCT group.

Attendance at Training –  We exchanged proposals again this week. We have narrowed our positions with one issue outstanding; unfortunately, the company insists that your seniority not be recognized for selection of training.

Holidays – M&R, MLS, MTS & MCT – The company has yet to responded to our proposal on holidays.

Overtime – M&R & MLS – The parties exchanged proposals on this article and have narrowed our differences. We are waiting for the company’s response.

Vacation – M&R & MLS- Your committee presented our initial proposal to the company on this article.

We continue to receive feedback from the membership wondering when JCBA negotiations will be concluded. We have been at the table in direct negotiations with American Airlines for seven months. We ask for your continued understanding that our joint contract bargaining is a very complicated process, which is different from the other large work groups that negotiated agreements at American.

The Association has multiple classifications and multiple contracts to negotiate within those classifications, including, Mechanic & Related, Maintenance Control Technicians, Material Logistic Specialists (Stores), Maintenance Training Specialists, Planners, Quality Assurance Auditors, Technical Documentation Specialists—including LAA Planners—Quality Assurance Auditors, and Technical Documentation Specialists that were not previously represented.

It takes time to combine, write and negotiate entirely new collective bargaining agreements for ALL Association members. As you can see, we continue to move forward and into more significant economic articles. Like all negotiations, we cannot give a date and time when negotiations will be concluded. Your Committee remains united, committed and resolute in bringing the JCBA’s you deserve. Your continued solidarity, support and patience are imperative to attain this goal.

The committee will reconvene in DFW the week of July 25, 2016. Additionally, the Joint Seniority Integration Committee will meet in Washington, DC next Thursday and Friday to try and resolve any outstanding issues as the result of merging the seniority lists.

To be clear, the Negotiating Committee will continue to negotiate JCBA’s with American Airlines and the Seniority Integration Committee will continue its work on a parallel track.
