Brothers and Sisters,

The TWU/IAM Association Executive Negotiating Committee this week met in full session with American Airlines under the auspices of National Mediation Board Mediators, Jim Mackenzie and Eva Durham, in San Francisco, CA. In addition to the executive committee, the full negotiating committees were also in San Francisco to support and caucus with the executive committee.

All members of the negotiating committees had the opportunity to meet with the mediators and were fully engaged in the process. We had input on all discussions and received real-time activity reports from the negotiating table. The previously agreed to agenda … Read More...

Brothers and Sisters,

THE TWU/IAM Association executive negotiating committee participated on a conference call conducted by National Mediation Board mediators yesterday, December 14, 2018. Negotiators from American Airlines also participated.

The mediators recapped the remaining open items to be negotiated. They also set the agenda and negotiating schedule for the beginning of 2019. The Association presented our objections to the Company’s proposal covering Field Trip Guidelines for M&R and MLS members and further discussion towards resolution will take place in SFO, as time permits.

11/16/2018

Brothers and Sisters,

As previously announced, the Association leadership and American Airlines Management participated in a joint conference call with the NMB mediators assigned to assist in our JCBA negotiations. The mediators are now responsible for setting the agenda, including dates for the mediated sessions.

The mediators opened the call requesting the parties discuss the differences between our proposals on the duration article of the agreement. The Association proposed early openers in our next contracts and a methodology that includes wage increases past the amendable date if we do not reach agreement on a new contract by that time. … Read More...

Brothers and Sisters,

The TWU-IAM Association met with American Airlines October 30 in Dallas, TX for mediated negotiations under the supervision of the National Mediation Board. The purpose of this first mediated session was to bring the Federal mediators up to speed on the status of our negotiations.

Areas covered were compensation, healthcare, retirement, work protections (scope) and the remaining open language issues. The Association clearly restated our demands that our work is protected in any final agreement. We also reiterated our positions on the other economic issues. The meeting was cordial and produced final TAs on MLS and … Read More...

Mediator Schedules Dates, Association Demands More

October 16, 2018 Admin 0

10/16/2018

Brothers and Sisters,

The two mediators assigned to our negotiations have notified the TWU-IAM Association and the Company that three bargaining dates have been scheduled: October 30, January 29-31 and February 12-14. While the Association welcomes the opportunity to negotiate during these dates, these three sessions are simply not enough.

We demand and challenge the Company to come out of hiding and schedule more dates in the interim.

The Company’s blatant delay tactics and an overall lack of respect for the negotiating process have only accomplished one thing; the failure to achieve a fair and equitable contract that our … Read More...

NMB Mediators Assigned Company Continues to Delay

September 19, 2018 Admin 0

09/19/2018

Brothers and Sisters,

The TWU-IAM Association was notified this week that the National Mediation Board has assigned two mediators to our negotiations. The mediators have indicated that, due to Federal budget concerns and scheduling, they will not schedule mediated negotiating sessions until after October.

The Association has demanded to meet with American with or without the mediators and as soon as possible. American has refused to meet.  All indications are that American wants to drag our negotiations out as long as possible.

While mediators can and do schedule negotiating sessions, the parties can meet and reach agreements anytime with … Read More...

AA Company Propaganda

09/13/2018

Many of you have read the Special Jetwire issued by American Airlines regarding our negotiations. If you don’t read anything else in this bulletin, read this:

Beware of any negotiations propaganda issued by the Company. It contains partial examples, misleading statements and outright wrong information.

It is true that your negotiating team has reached tentative agreements on many good improvements for our joint collective bargaining agreements. However, American has not just given those out of the kindness of their heart – they were hard won by the tenacity of your negotiators and, most importantly, you deserve them!

Section 6 Openers for all Association Agreements

September 12, 2018 Admin 0

09/12/2018

Brothers and Sisters,

Today, September 12, 2018, American Airlines delivered Section 6 notices for all open TWU-IAM Association collective bargaining agreements. Simply stated, a Section 6 notice officially opens contracts under the Railway Labor Act. The TWU-IAM Association welcomes this gesture by the Company as a sign they will now get serious about reaching the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreements our members deserve.

Included in the Company’s communication to the Association is a notice of their intent to file for mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB). This move is also welcomed by the Association. The NMB has previously been … Read More...
