Dear Brothers and Sisters of District 141,

Our hearts are heavy today as we share the sad news of the passing of Assistant General Chair and our friend and Brother Richard Pascarella. He died suddenly on Saturday in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Brother Pascarella started his career at United Airlines in 1989, where he joined IAMAW Capital Lodge 1759 in Herndon, VA. He began serving IAM members as Shop Steward, and later held leadership positions at the local lodge as Educator, EAP Representative, Grievance Committee Chair, Vice President and President. Anyone in the immediate family of a union member is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Immediate family is defined as: husband, wife, child; including step, foster and grandchildren.

Applicants may reapply each year while attending college; however, only one application per student, per year shall be accepted, regardless of how many union members are in the family.

GVP Pantoja Visits Philadelphia Local, Talks American Negotiations

On Tuesday, Transportation GVP Sito Pantoja visited members in Philadelphia and attended a meeting at Local Lodge 1776. GVP Pantoja, along with members of the IAM negotiating team on American Airlines, met with local leaders and committee members to provide an update on the status of negotiations. An industry report was also given to the membership, focusing on the American negotiations.
Members expressed their support and solidarity in achieving an industry best contract on American.

District 141’s Record Breaking Donation for Disaster Relief

IAM141 President Mike Klemm presented a check for $250,000 to the IAM Disaster Relief Fund, the largest single donation in the history of the program.

The District Lodge 141 Executive Board made and approved the motion to donate $250,000 to the IAM Disaster Relief Fund. The record-shattering contribution was announced on the opening day of the IAM141 Chairman’s Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The historic donation was raised in order to address ongoing and massive flooding and storm damage caused by Hurricanes Harvey in East Texas, Irma in Florida and Maria in Puerto Rico.

American Airlines Workers Industry Best Pay Rates Go into Effect

This month, approximately 30,000 ground workers at American Airlines will see their industry-leading wage rates reflected in their paychecks.  The wage increases for the TWU/IAM Association represented workers will average approximately 22 percent.  Mechanic and Related workers will surpass by three percent similarly classified workers at Delta Airlines.  Fleet Service, Stores/Material Logistic Specialists and Maintenance Training Specialists’ wages will increase one percent ahead of their peers at United Airlines.
