National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 will expand benefits for disabled veterans

Service-connected disabled veterans and their families will soon have access to certain new privileges—several of which have been long-standing DAV legislative priorities—under the recently signed John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2019.

Beginning in January 2020, service-connected disabled veterans and their caregivers will be eligible to use base commissaries and some Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities on bases worldwide. Help Needed for IAM Members Affected by Hurricane Florence

Just days after Florence slammed into the North Carolina coast, the monstrous storm’s havoc continues to spread across much of the eastern United States. With a toll of more than 30 lives lost and floodwaters rising, it will take months to assess the brunt of its impact.

Hurricane victims include Machinists Union members and they need help now in the recovery process. You can help your Brothers and Sisters by donating to the IAM Disaster Relief Fund today.

Were just about two weeks from Open House for the children at  “Renaissance West STEAM Academy.” We are still looking for school supplies to fill the bags or a monetary donation can be made.

We’ll start filling bags the week of Aug 20th for any member interested in helping. I’ll have times for the week at Thursday’s Noon Business Meeting.

Our hearts are heavy today as we share the sad news of the passing of Assistant General Chair and our friend and Brother Richard Pascarella. He died suddenly on Saturday in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Brother Pascarella started his career at United Airlines in 1989, where he joined IAMAW Capital Lodge 1759 in Herndon, VA. He began serving IAM members as Shop Steward, and later held leadership positions at the local lodge as Educator, EAP Representative, Grievance Committee Chair, Vice President and President. The Women’s Committee is accepting school supplies (paper, 1 subject notebooks, pencils, eraser’s, colored pencils, crayons, pens, glue sticks, rulers, pencil boxes, hand sanitizers, Kleenex tissues, ect…..) for “Renaissance West Steam Academy.”

You can bring them to the local or drop them off at your local Grievance Committee Office. Also we are encouraging anyone who would like to volunteer with CMS to fill out the form on the following website. http://www.cmsvolunteers.com
