Martin Luther King Day
On Monday, January 15th this nation will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We know of Dr. King as the preeminent warrior in the fight against the injustice of racism. Racism however was not his only fight.
Dr. King was also a passionate and powerful ally of labor unions in their fight for workplace justice. Dr. King understood that social and economic injustice in the workplace was born from the same enemy that gave us Jim Crow outside of the workplace. President’s Report – January, 2018

This past Monday I watched the college football national championship. It was a great game played by two great teams. These teams were there because they excel at the most critical phase of the game. It’s not defense, offense, or special teams. It’s recruiting. Those games are won and lost in recruiting.
It occurred to me that the same is true for unions only we do not call that phase of our game recruiting. We call it organizing and just like in college football, it is crucial to our success.
