J.D. Peace was born and raised in Trinity, NC. His roots run deep in this small town of less than 7,000 residents nestled just south of High Point off Interstate 85. It wasn’t a hard decision to get involved in the community, after all his family has lived here for generations and giving back just seemed like the right thing to do.

Braxton Winston elected to Charlotte City Council

In 2017 Braxton Winston, a democrat, was elected as an at-large member of the Charlotte City Council. Braxton is a proud member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union. Having a union member on the City Council is a huge advantage to the local labor movement. We were fortunate to have Braxton visit us at Victory Lodge 1725 last year to talk about his run for the council, his history and involvement in Labor Unions and what he hopes to achieve while in office. District Lodge 141 members have completed the endorsement process for the election of District Lodge Officers. The membership of the 43 Local Lodges affiliated with District Lodge 141 overwhelmingly endorsed the incumbent slate of candidates. All of the candidate’s opposition slate received the endorsement of one Local Lodge with a handful receiving nomination in a maximum of two Lodges. After the analysis of the proposals returned by the membership occurred during the week of January 8, this past week ended 9 days of direct meetings with the Company this year under the auspices of the National Mediation Board, and Mediator Eva Durham, who has permanently replaced Mediator Jack Kane.

The deadline for the 2018 IAM Scholarship Competition is February 23, 2018. Below are the details again for the competition. Don’t hesitate to submit!

The 2018 IAM Scholarship Competition is now accepting applications. The competition is open to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada under procedures and rules of eligibility explained in this announcement. The IAM Scholarship Fund, which is used exclusively to make possible these awards, was established by the delegates of the 1960 IAM Grand Lodge Convention.

The following is a basic format for the year 2018 District Lodge #142 Scholarship Program and is intended for the guidance of all members and legal children of members who may be eligible to participate in the competition.
