After more than four years of bargaining, the TWU-IAM Association is proud to announce we have reached Agreements in Principle with American Airlines for five new joint collective bargaining agreements (JCBAs) worth $4.2 billion, covering more than 30,000 Mechanic & Related, Fleet Service, Maintenance Control, MLS/Stores and Maintenance Training Specialist members.

Negotiations between the Association and American Airlines resumed today in Washington, DC. with some progress made. The remaining outstanding issues are few, but are some of the most important elements of a collective bargaining agreement, including wages and job scope language.

The parties will continue negotiations tomorrow, and the membership will be updated as developments occur. Your solidarity has brought us close to an agreement, and your committee thanks you as we try to conclude these negotiations.

This scholarship competition is open each year to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada under procedures and rules of eligibility explained in this Announcement. The IAM Scholarship Fund, which is used exclusively to make possible these awards, was established by the delegates of the 1960 IAM Grand Lodge Convention.

IAM Safety Committee Issues Coronavirus Update

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the IAM Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) has been proactive in ensuring the safety of all IAM members who work with the traveling public and provide cleaning and maintenance on aircraft.

The committee has participated in conference calls with its respective airlines to discuss the adequacy of current policies and procedures. These calls have included the airlines’ Medical, Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Operating Departments.

Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update – January 27, 2020

Negotiations continued January 21 – 23, 2020 at Southwest Airlines Headquarters Dallas, Texas. Discussions took place with Articles Six (Hours of Service) and Twenty-Seven (Wage Rules). The company’s position remains the same and no further movement continued with Article Seven (Overtime). Your committee worked with the remaining open articles.

NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Sisters and Brothers,

Talks continue by phone between the Association Leadership and American Airlines in reaching a JCBA. As such, we wanted to update the membership and dispel a false narrative, speculation and rumors some may be spreading.

We are set to meet again with the NMB on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00AM through the close of business on Friday, January 31, 2020. We are hopeful these dates with the NMB will not be necessary, however, if needed they will be utilized.

New Resources & Benefits Available to Veterans

The Veterans Administration has extended access to Commissary, Military Service Exchange, and MWR beginning this January.

Eligible Veterans and Primary Family Caregivers will have access to DoD and Coast Guard commissaries, exchanges, and morale, welfare, and recreation retail services.
