NMB to American Workers: ā€œDrop Deadā€ Schedules, Then Cancels Negotiations

The Association had been demanding the Company meet with or without the NMB to resume and complete our negotiations. The National Mediation Board (NMB) after a long period of delay finally scheduled negotiations for American Airlines and the TWU/IAM Associations for July 16, 17 and 18 in Washington, DC.  The session scheduled by the NMB was welcomed and the Association made all necessary plans for it. The attachment to this bulletin is the Association response to the letter receivedĀ from the Federal Aviation Administration (ā€œFAAā€) addressed to Robert Isom,Ā President of American Airlines, Alex Garcia, Executive Vice PresidentĀ Administration TWU and Sito Pantoja, General Vice President IAM, stressing thatĀ ā€œa breakdown in the relationship between American and the Union raises concernĀ about the ongoing effectiveness of the airlineā€™s safety management system. Safety isĀ a shared responsibility of American and Union members that demands a
collaborative culture, irrespective of any ongoing controversy between theĀ organizations.ā€
