March 13, 2020

Your Negotiating Committee met with Southwest Airlines Management, under the auspices of the National Mediation Board (NMB), March 10-12, 2020, at the Kansas City Airport Marriott. Your Committee came motivated and eager to reach an agreement deserving of the membership. Over the course of our sessions, we worked late into the night meeting with the Company, diligently going over proposals, reevaluating language and ‘thinking out of the box’ in an effort to bring our negotiations to a close.

Unfortunately, due to outside circumstances, namely the COVID-19 crisis, we were unable to reach an agreement. The nationwide pandemic, … Read More...

IAM and Southwest Airlines Negotiations Headed to Mediation

February 14, 2020 Admin 0

February 14, 2020

After more than two years of negotiations with Southwest Airlines, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today announced it invoked its right to mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB) to help resolve the dispute over a new contract for 7,852 Southwest Airlines Passenger Service and Reservation employees.

While many contract issues remain unresolved, the one issue that has completely derailed negotiations is Southwest’s treatment of its employees. IAM District 142 Wins Arbitration Case for AA Stock Clerks

December 11, 2019 Admin 0

December 11, 2019

Earlier this year, District Lodge 142 saw the culmination of a protracted battle over protecting the rights of work we have a contractual right to perform.  The case involved CLT Stores work and was discovered by some very diligent CLT Stores members who subsequently engaged their local IAM Stewards in the filing of the instant grievance.  The case moved through the process and was ultimately presented in an arbitration before Arbitrator Richard Bloch. The arbitration centered on an investigation that discovered that management had been secretly executing repair orders at remote locations for years. All of these … Read More...
