This letter is to announce the Year 2021 competition for the District #142 Scholarship Program.

This program is based on a scholarship competition open to members of District Lodge #142 and all Year 2021 graduating high school seniors who are legal children of members of District Lodge #142.

To effectively carry out this program all affiliated Local Lodges are requested to:

  1. Distribute information concerning the scholarship programs to all Local Lodge members who are affiliated with District Lodge #142.
  2. Make available to all such members the official rules and regulations of the Year 2021

IAM Demands More Protection for Airline and Rail Workers in Light of Continued Threats

IAM Transportation Department General Vice President Sito Pantoja issued the following statement regarding the need for increased airline and railroad security in the coming weeks: 

“As a result of the assault on the Capitol Building and subsequent violent behavior by unruly airline travelers, the IAM demands that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and all airlines and rail carriers adjust and reinforce their security policies to further ensure the safety of all airline and rail workers and passengers.

Without PSP, AA Cuts 40,000

American Airlines announced plans to eliminate the jobs of “at least” 40,000 employees.

The furloughs would begin within hours of the expiration of the Payroll Support Program (PSP), the section of the CARES Act scheduled to end on October 1, just over a month before Election Day. The IAM has responded by calling on members to make a last stand on Capitol Hill and redouble efforts to convince lawmakers to renew funding for the PSP, which has stalled in the Senate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Guide Dogs of America will not be holding its annual William W. Winpisinger Charity Banquet, previously scheduled for November 21, 2020 in Las Vegas, because of health concerns for attendees.

401(k) Company Contributions Update
