Elections were held for Victory Lodge 1725 officers and DL 141 and 142 Grievance Committees on December 9, 2021. All positions will go into effect in January of 2022 with terms running through December of 2024.

Negotiations resumed this week in DAY on Monday and continued into Tuesday. Present for the Company were Counsel Steven Nigh, HR Dir Jeremy Gorges, DOM Steve Albaugh, HR Mgr. Hogan Kindrick and CLT Mgr. Rob Cox. Present for the Union were myself, GLR John Werkmeister, Todd Road-CAK, Greg Farmer-DAY, Scott Carpenter-CVG, and Ian Cole-CLT.

Lodge Officer and Grievance Committee Elections Reminder – W/Sample Ballots

Nominations were made at the regular business meeting on November 11, 2021 for all Local Lodge Officer positions as well as Grievance Committees for Fleet (DL 141) and Mechanic & Related (DL 142).

Elections will be held at the local lodge on the day of the next regularly scheduled business meeting, December 9, 2021, from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Note: all elected officer and grievance committee positions are for a three (3) year term, running from January 2022 – January 2025.

NC State AFL-CIO 64th Annual Convention

I attended the NC AFL-CIO executive board as a current VP on the board. After we concluded with the normal order of business it was on to prepare for the 64th Annual Convention. It was the first, in-person executive meeting in over a year. I have to say it was a room full of excited, passionate beings. Everyone was pumped and ready to join with union and labor activists (fully masked) from across the state and country, united for organizing and improving the lives of workers.

Negotiations began this week in DAY with an opening day with a packed room. Present for the Company were representatives from HR, Finance and Maintenance groups led by VP of HR Margaret Soda, VP of Maintenance Mark Swearingen and PSA Chief Counsel and Lead Negotiator Steven Nigh. As was previously announced in the last bulletin, the opening day of negotiations had been set for October 7th and to occur in DAY. Due to a scheduling conflict that arose for the maintenance leadership team that is unavoidable, the opening day for negotiations has been rescheduled. It will now take place on Tuesday, October 19th and still occur in DAY. At this meeting the Union and Company will opening negotiations and share initial proposals generated by the IAM membership at PSA Airlines.

Having completed the call for proposals, the convening of a committee for proposal screening/correlation for the Union’s body of proposals and the completion of the collective bargaining preparation training last week in CLT, your negotiating committee is prepared to begin bargaining with the Company. With the call for proposals released, there is another invaluable communication tool to help with the proposals 
that you are submitting. As was provided for in 2015 before negotiations began, we have worked together to 
finalize and publish a survey. This survey will be instrumental in collecting data that is normally generated by 
word of mouth and sometimes painfully extracted from proposals, with the issue being trying to understand

Machinists Union Reaches Tentative Agreement at Southwest Airlines

The IAM is pleased to report that it has reached a strong new tentative agreement at Southwest Airlines for approximately 7,000 IAM-represented Customer Service Employees (Customer Representatives, Customer Service Agents, Source of Support Representatives).

The IAM negotiating committee is working diligently to finalize the tentative agreement language.
