IAM/PSA Airlines 2021 Call for Proposals

The current IAM/PSA Collective Bargaining Agreement becomes amendable on April 5, 2022 with bargaining set to commence 6 months prior to the amendable date per Article 28 of the Agreement which is no later than October 5, 2021. This language guarantees that the Company and your Union have already agreed to commence the negotiations process early. I recently have had the initial conversations with the Company concerning negotiations.

Machinists Union Postpones 40th Grand Lodge Convention to 2022

The IAM Executive Council has voted unanimously to postpone the 40th IAM Grand Lodge Convention, previously scheduled for September 12-17, 2021 in San Diego. The IAM will immediately begin planning for a 2022 Convention and communicate details as soon as possible.

A letter will be sent to Local Lodges soon with further information on delegates and constitutional proposals.

The decision to postpone the Convention was made to protect the safety and health of Convention delegates and guests. Further reasons include:

Richard Johnsen to Oversee Transportation Department

IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr. has appointed Richard Johnsen to serve as a Chief of Staff to the International President and to oversee the IAM Transportation Department. The appointment is effective immediately.

Machinists Union to Launch National Apprenticeship Strategic Initiative

The IAM is looking into expanding apprenticeships throughout the union and developing a highly skilled talent pool that will help grow the organization.

The IAM’s National Apprenticeship Strategic Initiative (NASI) is aimed at assisting District and Local Lodges in starting job training and placement programs, while strengthening current initiatives. The apprenticeship programs will span across a multitude of IAM industries, including machinists, aviation, aerospace, woodworkers, shipbuilders, automotive and more, all with the goal of placing skilled workers into good IAM-represented jobs.

Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3 Center) in Hollywood, MD beginning August 1, 2021. For the safety of the membership and staff, the flagship union training facility was forced to suspend classes in March 2020.
