IAM Legislative Conference a Success in Washington, DC
During our most recent trip on May 9th to the Legislative Conference held in Washington DC, myself and Greg Lance from the 1725 Legislative Committee had the opportunity to spend numerous hours on Capitol Hill lobbying on issues that directly affect our members.
We visited several members in the US House and Senate taking on issues like Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Glass Stegal Act Repeal, Assaults on Customer Service Agents and many other issues. We also got the opportunity to thank Congresswoman Alma Adams of North Carolinas 12th District for her support of working people on Capitol Hill.
We joined in solidarity with General Vice President Sito Pantoja, Brothers and Sisters from District 141 and 142 along with other Union members from CWA, AFA and ALFA to help stop US job loss and deny Norwegian Air International from registering its airplanes in Ireland (but does not fly to Ireland). Pilots are hired using a Singapore employment firm and based in Thailand.
We attended a rally in Lafayette Square then marched in front of the White House to show support and gain the attention of Transportation Administration Director Anthony Foxx and President Barak Obama demanding them to take action on this very important issue that affects the transportation industry and the jobs that we fight to protect.
