Charlotte Heavy Maintenance AMT James “Jim” Hendershot passed away on September 17, 2020. Jim Had over 30 years in aviation maintenance, starting with Piedmont Airlines, then through the mergers with US Air, US Airways and American.
Jim’s family decided to fly him home to upstate New York for burial and asked the company for help in giving him a proper sendoff here in CLT, since his coworkers would not be able to attend a memorial service.
Local CLT management worked alongside the IAM to say farewell to our departed brother. His family was able to come meet his coworkers who were able to pay their respects to Jim. Our Fleet service agents and management did a wonderful job getting Jim onto the aircraft heading home and working with us so that we could all stand at attention as his flight pushed back from the gate and departed under a water cannon salute.
Jim you will be missed greatly by your many coworkers and IAM brothers and sisters. Til we meet again.
