We are writing to inform you about a special benefit offered by IAM District Lodge 141: the Adolph Stutz Memorial Scholarship.

Each year, our District awards several scholarships to qualified and deserving members — or their children, grandchildren, or spouses — who are pursuing a college education. The scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,000. An independent committee selects the scholarship winners on the merits of the essay submitted by each applicant. This letter is to announce the Year 2021 competition for the District #142 Scholarship Program.

This program is based on a scholarship competition open to members of District Lodge #142 and all Year 2021 graduating high school seniors who are legal children of members of District Lodge #142.

To effectively carry out this program all affiliated Local Lodges are requested to:

  1. Distribute information concerning the scholarship programs to all Local Lodge members who are affiliated with District Lodge #142.

The 2021 IAM Scholarship Competition is accepting applications. The competition is open to members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada. The deadline for applications is February 12, 2021.

In 2020, the IAM awarded 16 scholarships valued at $64,000. The winners were selected out of over 300 applicants.

The IAM also has a vocational-technical two-year scholarship available to both members and their children.

The Adolph Stutz Scholarship Essay Deadline Has Been Extended

The deadline for entering the Adolph Stutz Memorial Scholarship Essay Contest has been extended to July 24th, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

District 141 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is offering six $1,000 scholarships and one $2,000 scholarship to the winners of its yearly Adolph Stutz Memorial essay contest. The contest is open to select union members and their families.

2020 SC AFL-CIO Lane Kirkland Scholarship

Locals must be affiliated and in good standing with the SC AFL-CIO.

Anyone in the immediate family of a union member is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Immediate family is defined as: husband, wife, child; including step, foster and grandchildren.

Applicants may reapply each year while attending college; however, only one application per student, per year shall be accepted, regardless of how many union members are in the family.
