Over the past several weeks, the Association, the NMB and American Airlines have been working to reach the tentative agreement our members have been promised and rightfully deserve. As most of you know, we also agreed to limit communications in a manner that would not create more rumor or innuendo from either side.

Earlier this year, District Lodge 142 saw the culmination of a protracted battle over protecting the rights of work we have a contractual right to perform. The case involved CLT Stores work and was discovered by some very diligent CLT Stores members who subsequently engaged their local IAM Stewards in the filing of the instant grievance. The case moved through the process and was ultimately presented in an arbitration before Arbitrator Richard Bloch. Congratulations are in order for Roger Thompson on his retirement. Roger retired Tuesday, December 3, 2019 with a ceremony at the Charlotte Heavy Maintenance Hangar. He worked as a Lead Mechanic on 2nd Shift in the Composite Shop.
Roger began his career in aviation maintenance in 1967 and went to work for Piedmont Airlines in 1973. He received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award in 2017, having completed 50 years as a mechanic. He retired with 52 total years in aviation, with 46 of those years being with Piedmont Airlines, USAir, US Airways and American Airlines.

General Vice President Sito Pantoja is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Ryan and Gil Simmons as the Transportation Department’s newest Special Representatives.
Sean Ryan initiated into IAM Local Lodge 2444 in April 1985 when he was hired by Piedmont Airlines in Norfolk VA. He served as Grievance Committee Chairman from 1990-2008.
