Informational Picketing will consist of 10 people maximum at the Charlotte airport terminal and unlimited number at the entrance to the airport on the corner of Wilkinson Blvd and Little Rock Rd.

Times will be 8 – 11 AM and 3 – 6 PM.

Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update – 03/12/2019

Negotiations continued the week of March 4, 2019, at Southwest Airlines Headquarters Dallas, Texas.  Your Negotiation Committee started the week with continued work on open issues.  Extensive dialog took place with the Company regarding Article Seven (Overtime) with a focus on Customer Service Agent Overtime.

The scheduled upcoming session is April 15 -17, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.

Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update – 03/06/2019

Negotiations continued at Southwest Airlines Headquarters Dallas, Texas February 26 – 28, 2019. To date, Agreements in Principle have been reached on clarification language. This week discussions continued with the following Articles; Two (Scope of Agreement), Five (Classifications), Six (Hours of Service), Ten (Part -Time), Eleven (Filling of Vacancies), Twelve (Leaves of Absence), Seventeen (Safety and Health) and Twenty-Two (Holidays/Flexible Time Off). The team holds steadfast to the memberships proposals and surveys addressing quality of life issues.

We are currently scheduled to resume sessions March 5 – 8 and April 2 – 4 2019 in Dallas, Texas.

NC STATE AFL-CIO Labor Legislative Conference

I want to thank this membership for sending me as a delegate to the NC State AFL-CIO Legislative Conference in Raleigh on February 12th.

We spent the beginning of the day discussing topics as well as the process of lobbying the General Assembly. Next it was on to lobbying. One of the most important tasks we can do as Labor advocates is to lobby our elected officials. It is a necessary function for us to reach out and explain our issues, our agenda and to teach them the needs of labor and unions.

Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update – Feb 19th, 2019

This past week of February 12, 2019 discussions continued at Southwest Airlines Headquarters in Dallas, Texas.  These discussions led to an Agreement in Principal to Article Fifteen: Reduction in Force and the  Company responded to Article Two: Scope of Agreement.  Further exchange took place with Articles Seventeen: Safety and Health, Eighteen: General and Miscellaneous and Twenty-Two: Holidays and Flexible Time Off.  The Union also responded to Articles Five: Classifications, Seven: Overtime, Eleven: Filling of Vacancies and Twelve: Leaves of Absence. Call Today to Stop the Government Shutdown

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Today, the Senate will vote on bill H.R. 268. If passed, this bill would allow the government to reopen while negotiations continue.

Lawmakers have the power and the responsibility to do what’s right. They need to bring 800,000 federal workers back to work and pay those who are working without pay.

That’s why I am urging IAM members to call their senators today and tell them to support H.R. 268 (Amendment #6), because federal workers, including thousands of IAM and NFFE-IAM members, absolutely cannot afford to be out of work any longer.
