IAM/PSA Airlines Negotiations Update February 10th, 2017

The parties met again this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Dayton, Ohio to continue negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Union negotiating committee was present and again joined by Grand Lodge Representative John Werkmeister. Present for the Company was Karl Hanisch, DOM and Anthony Bralich, outside counsel from FH Solutions.

The Association Mechanic & Related/Stores Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of January 23, 2017.  During this week’s session, the Committee exchanged and discussed the following Articles:

Limited Duty- M&R, MLS, MTS and MCT – We have reached a tentative agreement on this Article, which provides enhanced protections for our members.

Brothers and Sisters:

The Association Fleet Negotiating Committee met with the company during the week of January 23, 2017.

This week the Association worked on the following proposals:

Reduction in Force – The proposal was passed from the Union to the Company.  After much dialog, we are now awaiting the company’s response.

Limited Duty – We reached a tentative agreement on this article.

Vacations-  We had table conversation and are awaiting a response from the company.

Hours of Work– The company passed the article to the Union and we are working on our response.

The Association Fleet Negotiating Committee met with the company during the week of January 16th in Dallas/Fort Worth.

This week the Association received the following counter proposals:

Reduction in Force – there are substantial issues that need to be resolved prior to achieving an agreement.

Voluntary Furlough – the remaining outstanding issues were resolved.

Limited Duty – we realize the importance of this article and are committed to enhancing the language to protect the membership.

One Station Complex (TWU) – this article is contingent upon other articles being negotiated and those talks continue.

DL 142 M&R Negotiations Update January 13th, 2017

Sisters and Brothers,

The Association Mechanic & Related/Stores Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of January 9, 2017.  During this week’s session, the Committee exchanged and discussed the following articles:

The subcommittee made up of LUS & LAA Quality Assurance Auditors, Planners and Technical Documentation Specialists met with the negotiating committee and prepared proposals in Hours of Service and Classifications that pertain to those work groups, the discussions were meaningful and productive. In addition, the MTS subcommittee met and received a proposal on Hours of Service, and prepared multiple proposals for the next session.

IAM / PSA AIRLINES NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

The previously scheduled negotiations set to occur the week of January 16 have been cancelled by the Company due to unforeseen medical issues with the lead negotiator.  While this is unfortunate, the Union has been assured the February dates are still good and that no further delays will occur.

The company presented the following proposals to the union this week:

  • Vacations – No tentative agreement was reached as the remaining issues include the number of vacation weeks and accrual formula.
  • Hours of Work – No tentative agreement was reached as the remaining issues include the scheduling of part-timers and adverse weather conditions.

The Association Fleet Negotiating Committee met with the company during the week of December 5th in Washington DC.

The committee exchanged proposals with the company this week on Vacations and Hours of Work. Although we didn’t reach a tentative agreement on these articles, we narrowed down the outstanding issues. The company committed to working on these proposals over the weekend and will present their counter proposals to your committee on Monday.
